Donning of the Kente Celebration | Division of Student Affairs

Rooted in Ghanaian tradition, the Kente cloth symbolizes history, philosophy, and cultural values. This celebration allows graduates to honor their academic journey while embracing the cultural significance of Kente.

Each celebration is uniquely planned by students, faculty, staff, and alumni to acknowledge history, customs, and community connections.

Registration for the Spring 2025 Cultural Celebrations closed on March 19.

Participation in any Cultural Celebration is open to all graduating students.

Any student(s) or group interested in creating, establishing, hosting, or participating in a new or non-existing Cultural Celebration should email OMSA@vcu.edu for details and criteria for establishing a new Cultural Celebration.
